Daily Facial with Dr. Roebucks
Ok, friends! I teased a few weeks ago that I would be sharing my new and improved daily routine after adding in Dr. Roebucks a few months ago.
I have never been the type to take care of my skin. I’ve always worn less expensive makeup from the drugstore and have been on and off with my discipline for washing my face at night. Yes, I’ve washed it a few times throughout the day in the summer when sweat and oils build up, but a disciplined routine in morning and night haven’t been my forte.
Then I turned 30.
And just like that, it seemed like my dryness got worse, my rosacea flared up, wrinkles and smile lines came out of nowhere in my photos, and sun spots started poking through. Call it hormone changes or just plain realization of getting older, but all the sudden I started taking notice of what I was putting on my face and how I was caring for it.
I started purchasing makeup at Sephora, which in and of itself made a huge difference in the texture of my skin. I also started using:
an anti-wrinkle firming serum and tried leading brands like Estee Lauder and Neutrogena, but they didn’t seem to make much of a difference.
Kiehl’s Avocado Eye Cream, which was ok, but again didn’t seem to make much of a difference.
Herbivore Rose Water for hydration, but that kept making my rosacea flare up.
and finally, I caved and started using Origins’ GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream, which was a great temporary fix for those days when my eyes were puffy, but didn’t really address my issues long-term.
Enter Dr. Roebucks. I hadn’t heard of this brand until I found it at Sephora and started using it. I was first compelled by the story of two sisters from a family of Doctors who felt passionate enough about skincare to create an entire business around it. Then I started reading about their products and the ingredients they use, which seemed safe enough for my rosacea and fairly reasonable in price. I started using the products as a family of skincare, rather than a combo of brands here and there and it has made such a difference.
Step 1: Gently Cleanse
Start by gently dabbing a warm wet cloth on your face to remove any excess grime from the night before. Gently massage in the Weightless Foaming Cleanser into your face using your fingertips.
Step 2: Add Hydration
If you use eye creams and spot treatment, you’ll start with this. I stopped using excess eye creams and rarely use spot treatments, so I typically move right into hydrating my skin. The Ultimate Hydrating Serum has a lot of vitamins in it for deep absorption. 1-2 pumps and a gentle pat into your skin will do the trick.
Step 3: Moisturize Your Skin
I have always struggled with the moisturizing part, because I feel like moisturizers I have used in the past tend to make my skin feel oily. What I love about the Hydrating Face Moisturizer is that it doesn’t have that effect. You get a hydrated, weightless feel and that’s exactly what you want.
Step 4: Sunscreen and Makeup
The recommendation here is to include sunscreen in your skincare routine and apply here. The makeup I use has a significant amount of sunscreen in it, so I count this as one step.
Step 1: Cleanse x 2
I use a medicated cleanser to control my rosacea, so I will do this first and then wash a second time with the Weightless Foaming Cleanser.
Step 2: Boost Everything
Use the Collagen Boosting Serum and gently pat into your skin with your fingertips.
Step 3: Brighten with a Mask
The Aha Brightening Mask has made SUCH a difference in my skin. I do this a few times a week for 20 minutes and I love how much smoother my skin has become.
Step 4: Moisturize Again
Yes, again! You did it this morning, now you do it again. This will allow your skin to reset itself over night and retain the moisture you need.
I hope you will give these products a try and fall in love with them as much as I have. Enjoy!
